New database features added

by in ,

Hello, Chromebook world! It has been some time since our last update. We’ve listened to your requests and I have some very exciting news to share about new database features!

First, it’s important to know that we are in the process of (slowly) doing a much needed refresh of our database to input all the latest Chromebooks. Time has been scarce lately. I hope you are all healthy and doing as well as possible during these challenging times.

After much hard work, we can now present you with some new database features. You can now see the following new data on most of our entries:

  • Android App support
  • Crostini (Linux Apps/Containers) support
  • GalliumOS compatibility (according to their wiki)
  • Custom firmware availability (also according to the GalliumOS wiki)
  • Board names
  • EoL dates (end of software updates)

These features are not yet searchable but we are working to integrate them into search as soon as humanly possible! We will also be adding features around these new fields, such as browsing by family (there are some interesting connections that this data has exposed). Please give your feedback as we are currently still heavily developing these features right now — if you want to have a particular way of searching, let us know. 🙂
